Only a personal reason: I want to log all web-requests, don't want any 
direct connection to the internet and don't want to set up an extra 
DNS-server (only for this computer). - I update clamav only twice or three 
times a week for testing-purposes, so this should not be a traffic-problem 
(because of the caching-proxy and a patched freshclam, see below).
On my working-computer (and all others) I'm using the dns-method (of 
course).

As far as I know there is an IMAP-flaw in Thunderbird. I'm waiting for the 
fix :).

Apropos caching-proxy:
I patched all my freshclam-version in order to allow caching (I attached my 
patch). I think the "No-Cache"-lines could be deleted or at least a special 
parameter for this should be added. -> All proxy-servers which don't violate 
the http, should send a "If-Modified-Since"-request to the 
clamav-update-server and download the current signatures.
