[clamav-users] clamav stops boot

However, as the OP is using Debian, is new to Debian, and assuming it's been installed as a package, then he'd be better just using the system update tools.

"apt-get update && apt-get upgrade" to upgrade everything, or "apt-get upgrade" followed by "apt-get install clamav-daemon clamav-freshclam" should pull in updates for the ClamAv stuff. That is, assuming it's a moderately up to date Debian version.

But he has to get it booted first ! The system should continue past that message, so I'm not sure what's going on. As a quick hack, booting into recovery mode (should be a boot option at the Grub menu) and "rm /etc/rc2.d/S*clamav-daemon" should get the machine to a bootable state.
Once the system boots, "dpkg -l '*clamav*'" should show what's installed.
