That's what I thought. I've now blocked the repo update method.

Yes, that's what I have here in /etc/clamd.conf

And my /etc/freshclam.conf contains those lines

clamd is running. I've just run freshclam maually as root and it seems to have updated clamd this time, so that previous logfile message will remain a mystery.
