Andrei — Already on it! Thanks for the idea about the “highest number of detections” though.
We have been making some excellent prizes on our end, and will be using those. I’m waiting on a couple of speed bumps to be smoothed out on my end, then we’re going to begin the contest from there!

Hi,
Just want to share with you some thoughts on how to increase people's involvement in the ClamAV community signatures.
Start two competitions with prizes (t-shirts, pens, etc).
1. Highest number of detections (top 3 or top 10)
2. Highest number of signatures (top 3 or top 10)
The goal of the first competition is to to have people add signatures for prevalent threats.
The goal of the second competition is to increase the number of signatures in ClamAV.
For both competitions, there should be a min number of signatures required to enter the competition.
After 3(4) months, you can write a blog that will reveal the winners. In the blog, you can also specify the impact the community signatures had. (the number of community signatures compared to the total signatures and/or how many files were detected by the community signatures compared to the total number of files detected by ClamAV during that period of time).
The blog will (hopefully) be picked up by other popular news websites and more people will be interested to participate in the competitions, eventually raising even higher the ClamAV detection rate.
On a final note, what you guys are doing is awesome! :)
Regards,
Andrei Saygo
